Alaska Burning
Published in Paperback by Shoreline (May, 1998)
Authors: Jerry Nelson and Jerry Ray Nelson
Average review score:

Interesting adventure and nature stories.
The information we get from the media about forest fires doesn't begin to tell us the excitement, danger and even fun that is shared by firefighters. This book lets us see some of these things from someone who has seen and done it all. It is fun and sometimes heartrending to read.

All Aboard!
Published in Hardcover by Little Brown & Co (Juv Trd) (September, 2002)
Authors: Mary Lyn Ray and Amiko Hirao
Average review score:

Great simple story, beautiful illustrations, poetic writing
This book has a simple yet appealing story that kids can relate to (going on a journey, trains, a favorite stuffed animal and family). The language used is descriptive of a train sounds and fun to read. The illustrations are colorful, stylish and full of humorous detail (the mole's devotion to Crunch bars and reading books). I love reading this book almost as much as my three year old son does.

Answered my questions about glucosamine and chondroitin
I've asked my doctor about glucosamine but she knows very little about it. I found the answers to all of my questions in this little book. It explains how glucosamine works, how much to take, whether to use chondroitin, and gives the research to support the recommendations. It's the perfect book on glucosamine and chondroitin. I gave a copy to my doctor and she enjoyed reading it and told me she learned a lot.

All American Wonder
This book is an essential resource for any and all who either are in the process of restoring an old jeep or those who just love old jeeps. The diagrams and photographs are priceless to those who are restoring WW2 jeeps and need an accurate reference to know that the right wire or cable is being put in the right spot. I literally cannot say enough good things about this book.

The Allure of Turquoise
Published in Paperback by New Mexico Magazine (July, 1996)
Authors: Mark Nohl, Marc Simmons, David Gomez, Jon Bowman, Richard McCord, Jack Hartsfield, Patricia O'Connor, Ray Nelson, Emily Drabanski, and Arnold Vigil
Average review score:

An Excellent Introduction.
The cover alone is worth the price! Each stone in this photograph of 46 specimens of turquoise is identified at the start of the book. High quality natural stones from the most important mines of the Southwest are pictured side by side with treated and plastic versions.

The book is a collection of 10 articles written for New Mexico Magazine. Titles include "Turquoise and the Native American", "Buyer Beware: Hidden Facets of Turquoise", Young Native Jewelers Signal Change of Guard" and "The Plight of Old Pawn". High quality photographs of famous mines, artisans and jewelry, both historic and current, will whet the appetite of would-be collectors but also leave an impression of love and respect for the land and its native inhabitants.

Read this book under a strong light to catch the full depth of color!
